Moderate Resorts: Disney's Coronado Springs Resort and Convention Center

What makes it a moderate?

Moderate Resorts are called that because they have more amenities than the Value Resorts, but are still more economical than the Deluxe Resorts. While it is true that the occasional discount can potentially make a Deluxe resort a better choice for your family, when you are looking at base price, no discount involved, Moderate Resorts are the clear winner. These resorts are perfect if you are looking to stretch your budget so that you can afford other things to make your vacation special such as souvenirs and even Table Service or Signature Dining. Also, if like many guests you plan to spend some time at the resort, this is a much more peaceful choice than a Value Resort. Moderates have beautiful gardens and water features. Gone are the larger than life Disney icons of the Values, yet these resorts are still very much Disney!

Room amenities

All rooms, whether they are a Standard or Preferred room offer the same amenities. Standard and Preferred are labels that truly only indicate how close the room is to the main building and transportation! Moderates also may have rooms that have views of a garden or the water. Each room offers: 2 full size beds(except where otherwise indicated); a bathroom with a separate sink area, complete with basic toiletries; a hairdryer; an iron and ironing board; a cooler for your beverages; in-room safe; telephone with voicemail; and free Wi-Fi. Additionally, Moderates also have a coffee pot with coffee service in room! Some rooms are suites that can sleep up to 8 adults and/or are located in The Destino Tower!

Recreation

All Disney Resorts offer themed pools(main pool); campfire activities; an arcade; movies under the stars; a playground; and jogging trails. Additionally, some special activities are available at the main pool. Some of these offerings are a separate fee. This resort also offers volleyball, La Vida Health Club( Spa and fitness), a Spanish Mosaic Art Workshop, a Colors of Coronado Painting Experience, and The Sangria University (reserve online up to 60 days prior).

Dining

A Quick Service Dining location is available at each of the Moderate Resorts. It is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and offers lots of choices for both hot and cold meals, a beverage cooler, ice cream, and a bakery. Items for guests with food allergies are also available on request. Check you MDE app for dining location times, offerings, and to order your meal online! This resort has El Mercado de Coronado, Café Rix (for breakfast, coffee, and lunch salads), and Siestas Cantina (poolside).

Moderates also have Table Service dining. Most have 1 location, but Coronado has much, much more!

Rix Sports Bar and Grill serves burgers and bar food amidst 31 TV's , all tuned to the current sporting events. Three Bridges Bar & Grill at Villa del Lago serves sandwiches, salads, tacos and more, all in the middle of the lake! It also offers mobile order take-out and hosts The Sangria University on Saturdays and Sundays, see MDE app for times and reservations! The Maya Grill offers traditional Mexican food with a Mayan atmosphere. At night I have heard live guitar music too! Last, but not least, the Signature Dining is Toledo-Tapas, Steak & Seafood. It boasts Spanish-inspired food from the roof of the Destino Tower!

Shopping

Each Disney Resort has a specially themed gift shop with items that you can only find at their location, as well as more general merchandise, snacks, basic toiletries and over the counter medicine, and even alcohol for purchase by guests 21 and over. This location’s shop is Panchito's and is located in the main building.

Pool Bar

Each Disney Resort offers a pool bar at the main pool. Libations to enhance your vacation are available for purchase by guests 21 and over. This location has the Dahlia Lounge, the Barcelona Lounge, and Laguna bar.

Complimentary parking and transportation

Parking is free for guests of all Disney Resort hotels for guests. Additionally, transportation to the parks and Disney Springs is also complimentary , as well as parking at these locations if you’re a guest at a Disney Resort. This location offers transportation by bus.

While it is true that I love all things Disney , the attractions, the parades, the fireworks, the characters, the thing I love most at Disney is the dining! Why are they called Value Resorts? Pop Century The Disney Value Resorts are called that because they are the least expensive resorts that Disney has to offer. In other words, staying at one of these will stretch that Disney Budget farther.
