Is it different than other trips?
Yes! Visiting Walt Disney World is different and magical with a preschool aged child, especially a princess! While you might be excited about the latest thrill ride, your princess is more interested in meeting up with her favorite Disney Princess and enjoying the attractions that are designed with preschool children in mind! You can still ride your favorite ride if you utilize Ride Share (let the cast member at the attractions entrance know you want to use this service and they will help you! Note: not all rides have it, but most of the ones that need it do have it!)
What is the Perfect Resort to Stay in with a Princess?
There are a few Disney resorts with princess theming, but the ultimate princess resort is Port Orleans Riverside! As a moderate, it has some nice accommodations including carriage rides! However, the biggest draw for your little princess would be a princess themed room! Someone asked me once which princess is here? The answer is almost all of them, with the exception of princesses whose stories were told after the rooms were rethemed. The room amenities include royal fireworks that your princess can setoff until her heart is content and a magic carpet for some make believe fun!
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom
This is the ultimate princess experience for all princesses age 3-12. Packages starting currently at around $99, your little princess can be transformed into well...a princess! This first package includes a princess hairstyle, shimmering makeup and a face gem, a royal sash and a cinch sack, nail polish, and a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique t-shirt. Other available packages include costuming for an added fee. No worries if you have a young prince! There is something here for him too! Packages for him start at about $20. For this price, he will get a princely coiffure with a sword and shield. Other available packages include costuming as well for an added fee. If this experience is on your to do list, keep in mind that reservations are recommended and are available 60 days before your trip begins.
Too much for your budget? You may want to bring a crown you have already purchased and check out the Harmony Barbershop on Mainstreet. While they do not do a princess hairdo, you can get your child a haircut with a simple styling with spray. Then, you can add your own crown to be the crowning perfection! Though the website does not state this as fact, in years past you could even get a little pixie dust for just a little more!
Plan to go first thing in the morning?
Rope Drop is showing up to a park and getting in line before it opens. It is not something Disney tells you to do, but something guests began doing. Do you have to do it to have a great day? Absolutely not! Some guests feel this makes their best day. Others prefer to sleep and arrive later. It is your vacation! You do you! If this is indeed your plan, I recommend purchasing Genie+. You purchase it at 7am and then you may begin selecting your reservations for Lightning Lane one at a time. For more details click on the hyperlink found earlier in this paragraph.
Alright I'm going to rope drop and buy Genie+, but what should I reserve first?
Magic Kingdom
Meet and Greet
Since this is the ultimate princess laden park, you better start there with Princess Fairytale Hall! You have two choices here: either book Cinderella + one more princess OR book Tiana plus one more princess. Consult your local princess for the correct answer on which! You may assume it is Cinderella, but Tiana is super popular and what matters most is your princess's opinion! Now there are lots of other opportunities: Enchanted Tales with Belle, Meet Ariel in her Grotto, Meet Jasmine and Aladdin in Adventureland, and Merida in the Fairytale Garden! If your princess wants to meet the Disney characters, don't forget to checkout Pooh and Tigger at Pooh's Thoughtful Spot, Pete's Silly Sideshow, and Mickey at Town Square.
Rides
Ok! Good start, but your princess will want to ride some rides too! Most of the rides in the Magic Kingdom are appropriate for preschool children, with a few exceptions. All of the coasters(Space Mountain, Tron, The Seven Dwarfs, The Barn Stormer, and Big Thunder Mountain) have height limits for safety reasons. each has a different height restriction. You will want to check the My Disney Experience app for those restrictions before arriving at the coaster. There's nothing sadder than an excited guest who is not yet tall enough to ride.
So which rides tend to have the longest lines? To date, The Seven Dwarfs and Peter Pan have the longest lines. Tron will when it opens to the public as well. After you have seen the Princesses at Fairytale Hall, use your Genie+ or maybe even and Individual Lightning Lane for these rides. The others take turns having longer lines throughout the day. Consult your app for the best time to ride.
Dining
To dine with a princess while in the Magic Kingdom, your best choice is Cinderella's Royal Table. Here your princess will meet and take a photo with Cinderella. Then you go upstairs and eat in her castle! Consult the website for updates as to when the princesses will return to the dining room. When they do, this can be a very low stress way to meet them! PixieDust Tip: If you book this dining reservation, you can go ahead and use Genie+ to see Tiana!
Not able to get a reservation at Cinderella's Royal Table? There are a few options: Be Our Guest is in the Beauty and the Beast castle. At the moment it doesn't appear that you will see Belle or the Beast there, but you can still enjoy their beautiful castle!
Alternatively, The Crystal Palace is hosted by Pooh and his friends! Enjoy a meal as they visit each table in the restaurant for pictures and autographs.
Gotta see a princess? Snow White and a few Dwarfs appear at Artist Point at The Wilderness Lodge, just down the road a bit. Consult the app for scheduled appearances and to book a reservation.
Parades, Cavalcades, and Fireworks
No princess day is complete without watching a parade and waving to your favorites! Currently, the parades are at 12noon and 3pm. Also, there are cavalcades (mini-parades) at 10:45, 1:35, and 4:25. And of course, end your perfect day with fireworks at 8:15pm! Consult your app for any time changes to avoid any disappointed princesses!
Where can I find princesses when we aren't at the Magic Kingdom?
Epcot
In France, sing along at the Beauty and the Beast Sing-along! While you're there you might want to checkout Remy's Ratatouille Adventure! This attraction has long lines so you might want to use a Genie+ reservation for it!
In Norway, ride Frozen Ever After (another Genie+ recommended ride) and make a reservation to eat at Akershus. Akershus boasts a promenade of princesses while you dine on Norwegian fare. Pixie Dust Tip: It tends to be a little easier to book than Cinderella's Royal Table too!
While in Epcot, don't forget to checkout Journey into the Imagination with Figment, Gran Fiesta Tour starring the Three Caballeros in Mexico, The Seas with Nemo and Friends and Turtle Talk with Crush!
Hollywood Studios
Shows
Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage and For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration are sure to please any princess!
Rides
There are not any princess rides her, but your princess will adore Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway! Other favorites include: Alien Swirling Saucers, Toy Story Mania, Disney Junior Play and Dance, Lightning McQueen's Racing academy, and Muppet's 3D.
Meet and Greets
Again, no princesses, but they can meet Chewbacca at the Star Wars Launch Bay, Olaf at Celebrity Spotlight, and Disney Stars at Red Carpet Dreams. Where will a preschooler want to eat? Hollywood and Vine with Minnie Mouse or Disney Junior Friends! Check your app for appearance schedule before reserving!
Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom is definitely a great preschool park! However, it is not a princess park. Your princess will enjoy seeing all of the animals on the Kilimanjaro Safari as well as Conservation Station, and the Gorilla Falls Explorations Trail. In addition, there are some great shows: It's Tough to Be a Bug!, Finding Nemo: The Big Blue...and Beyond! and of course, The Festival of the Lion King! Finally, don't forget to meet your favorite Disney Pals at the Adventure Outpost!
I remember that time well. It was the day after Thanksgiving. We entered the Park and waited for Breakfast at Gulf Hospitality House. While in line we were welcomed by Oscar a tiny man who worked for Oscar Mayer. Oscar conversed with my oldest daughter Pam ( 7 Years Old), eye ball to eye ball. That was the beginning of a Magical Day,
ReplyDeleteAs we were waiting for the shuttle to transport us to our car, the attendant informed us that the Park was only half full because I-4 had a 6 mile backup to the entrance and Disney was told to close. We were fortunate we planned to have Breakfast in the Park.
