Why Should I Pick a Moderate Resort for My Disney Vacation?

 In general...

The Value Resorts offer immersion, whimsy, and usefulness at a value price. So why then would I book a Moderate Resort at Disney? Simply put, they offer a little more. Each of the Value Resorts offer the same type of amenities: counter service, themed pool, pool bar, gift shop, complimentary parking, etc. The Moderate Resorts offer all of that and then add something special. What do they add? Each one is different, so let's look at them all!

Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort

The theming of this resort is not the larger than life, whimsical  icons you see at the values. Those are fun, but sometimes you just want a little less of that. All of the Moderates will do exactly that! You will see Disney characters in some of the décor, but it isn't so in your face.

In addition to the counter service restaurant, Caribbean Beach offers a sit down restaurant, Sebastien's Bistro. This restaurant offers a taste of the Caribbean a step above their counter service counter part! Make sure you book a reservation for this tropical delight!

Looking for some recreation? You'll love the Spanish Fort themed pool with 2 water slides and water cannons at Port Royale! Or, maybe you'd rather have a quiet day of catch and release fishing? You won't get that at a Value Resort!

Transportation from this resort includes a bus, as well as the skyliner! If you'd rather drive to the parks and Disney Springs, no problem! Parking is complimentary for staying at a Disney Resort!

Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

This resort is a romantic paradise you just might never want to leave! It centers around the Villa del Lago, which acts as the hub for the resort! If you are excited by dining options, this might be your place! In addition to one of the most unique counter service restaurants, there are also 3 sit down dining options, plus multiple lounges and breakfast options in the morning.

So what is special about their recreation and entertainment? As a conference center, this resort is geared more towards grown-ups. From The Sangria University to The Spanish Mosaic Art activities to The Colors of Corona Painting Class to The Spa and Fitness center, you're sure to find something you're looking for!

What about your kids? They'll be happy too with the Lost City of Cibola pool with it's 50 foot pyramid and 123 foot water slide! In the evening they can roast marshmallows by the campfire or watch a Movie Under the Stars!

Transportation from this resort includes a bus. The resort is in the middle of everything, so there is never a long trip to wherever you are going! If you'd rather drive to the parks and Disney Springs, no problem! Parking is complimentary for staying at a Disney Resort!

Disney's Port Orleans Riverside

The beautiful landscaping at this resort will take you to rural Louisiana! Unlike the values, this a quiet, peaceful place! It features a limited number of  Royal Guest rooms that will put a smile on any princess of any age!

In addition to their counter service offerings, you can make a reservation for Boatwright's Dining Hall! Here you can enjoy New Orleans's style home cooking! There are 2 lounges, Muddy Rivers by Old Man Island, where you can enjoy the main pool, and The River Roost, located inside the main building.

Notable recreation offerings include bike rentals, surrey rentals, and horse drawn carriage rides! Of course, you can always swim, watch a Movie Under the Stars, or play at the arcade!

Transportation to the parks from this resort includes a bus. If you'd rather drive to the parks and Disney Springs, no problem! Parking is complimentary for staying at a Disney Resort! In addition to the bus, they also offer a water taxi to Disney Springs!

Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter

You might be thinking this is the same as Port Orleans, but you would be wrong! The theming of this quaint resort is The French Quarter! It features cobblestone streets, gas lamps, and wrought iron balconies!

Enjoy the taste of New Orleans at this resort from beignets to Po' Boys! Looking for something more than counter service? You're in luck! While there is not a sit down dining location here, you can easily access Boatwright's Dining Hall just down the road! So what's special here? Scat Cat's Club! Enjoy some tasty libations and appetizer's including their famous beignets! In the mood for a little jazz? Live performances start at 7:30 Friday through Sunday!

Disney's Fort Wilderness Cabins

Don't really camp? No worries! This isn't camping, in fact it isn't even glamping! This is a beautiful resort with a rustic flair! Each cabin can sleep up to 6 adults. Sleeping accommodations include a queen size bed, bunk beds, and a sleeper sofa. Each cabin has a bedroom , living room, full bath, deck patio with a grill, and a fully furnished kitchen equipped with all of the comforts of home. Oh, and best of all, housekeeping will do your dishes!

Recreation? So much recreation! Of course you can swim or enjoy a Movie Under the Stars with a campfire. You can also rent a golf cart, experience archery, fishing, water craft rentals, and visit the Triple D Ranch for pony, wagon and carriage rides. Want something adventurous? How about renting a Segway to ride in the Wilderness Back Trail Adventure!

What is Pixie Dust?

First Time Magic   When I was Young…and so was Disney World  My first visit to Disney World was in 1971. I was not excited to be going to Disney. Why? I did not know that Disney existed, much less that I was going there. 1971 was the year that Walt Disney World opened in Florida and I was 5 years old! Whether my Dad kept it a secret so that it would be the ultimate surprise is unclear to me. What I am sure of is that he took us to the most magical place on earth. Operations were very different than they are now, but the one thing that remains the same is that it is still the most magical place on earth.  What is Pixie Dust and how can I Make it Happen on my Trip? Pixie Dust is a magical, unexpected thing that can happen while you are at Disney, but you cannot make it happen. I have heard people recently complain that the magic is gone since the pandemic started. It’s not true. I am sad for these people because they are missing the point. There are two types of...

Signature Dining at The Walt Disney World Resort

One of my favorite things I have a confession. While it is true that I love all things Disney , the attractions, the parades, the fireworks, the characters, the thing I love most at Disney is the dining! Whether I am on a Disney Cruise or visiting the Theme Parks, the dining is my favorite thing! You may not be aware of this, but Disney offers several different types of dining experiences: Table Service, Quick Service, Character Dining , and the coveted Signature Dining!  Why is it called Signature Dining? Disney's Signature Dining locations are named as such because they are each a one of a kind, dining experience. Walt Disney talked about taking an experience and "plus-ing" it. In other words, taking something great and then taking it up another notch. That is exactly what the Signature Dining experience is! What do I need to know? Each of these unique locations is available by reservation and they tend to fill up very quickly! Reservations can be made 60 days bef...

Disney Value Resorts: Which one is Best?

Why are they called Value Resorts?  Pop Century The Disney Value Resorts are called that because they are the least expensive resorts that Disney has to offer. Some of My Favorite Things: Hollywood Studios Edition

Hollywood Studios: What can I expect? Hollywood Studios, like Epcot , is not like the MagicKingdom . It is not like Epcot either. So what is it? Originally, Hollywood Studios was a small theme park named MGM Studios. The theming of the park was a day on a Backlot in Hollywood. Everything that was originally there had to do with the making of movies. Though it was my favorite park, it had a problem. It earned the reputation of a half-day park. Through the years, it has changed significantly. Today’s version of Hollywood Studios is definitely a full day park. It still has a movie theme, but the newer attractions are more of immersion into those movies than experiencing a day on a Backlot in Hollywood. Is it still my favorite? Absolutely! Maximizing Your  Let’s get right down to it! You could spend your whole day and only experience a few things if you’re not careful. Pixie Dust Tip: If you only buy Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lanes one day of your trip, I would con...
