What do Disney's Deluxe Resorts and Villas Offer for My Vacation that I Cannot Get at a Value or Moderate?

Let's start with what is the same

All Disney Resorts have what you might call a base package to make your vacation awesome. They all have counter service dining, lounge/pool bars, arcades,  themed pools, specialty theming throughout the resort, and at least one gift shop. They all offer free parking and complimentary transportation to each of the 4 parks as well as Disney Springs. In the rooms, they all have a cooler, coffee and tea service, and basic things such as hair dryers and toiletries. If you've read my overview of the Value and Moderate Resorts, you have a basic understanding what is offered at each level. So, how are the Deluxe Resorts and Villas different? Let's find out!

Deluxe Categories: What's a Villa?

There are Deluxe Resorts and then there are Deluxe Villas. If you're looking for the very best of the best in a Disney Resort, that might be a Villa. Why? The amenities and the space. Villas are like a home away from home. They offer 1 and 2 bedroom options, both of which include a full kitchen (fully furnished), a washer and dryer, a living area, and luxurious bathrooms. These are designed for comfort and quite possibly for an extended trip or family celebration. If you want or need to cook and will not be eating out much, your vacation dollars might be best spent here.

What is a studio?

Studio accommodations are similar to those of a Moderate Resort. The difference would be in the recreation offerings as well as the amenities. The rooms tend to offer more space than a Value or Moderate as well. For the purposes of this Blog, if it doesn't say Villa, consider it a Studio.

Resort Areas

All of the Disney Resorts are divided into areas: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Disney Springs. Knowing which area your resort is located in will help you to know what is special about each.

The Magic Kingdom Deluxe Resorts
Wilderness Lodge

These include The Polynesian and Villas, The Grand Floridian, The Contemporary, and Bay Lake Tower. Each of these resorts offer views of the Seven Seas Lagoon and it's nightly Water Pageant. They also all offer boat rentals, fishing, volleyball, jogging trails, and access to a Spa and Fitness Center. They are all located within site of the Magic Kingdom, and offer the Monorail, Bus Service, walking Trails, and Boat Service to the parks and Disney Springs. Check your MDE app for specific details.

The Wilderness Lodge, Boulder Creek Villas, and Copper Creek Villas are located just down the road. They offer most of the amenities stated above, plus lush landscapes and beautiful views of nature!

The Epcot Deluxe Resorts

Epcot has one resort that is different from all of the rest, The Riviera Resort. It has European influences throughout and offers Tower Studios, as well as Villas with up to 3 bedrooms. Recreation includes a Health and Fitness Center. It also offers spectacular dining options. Transportation is available by bus as well as the Skyliner. Though it is not located behind Epcot, you are just a Skyliner ride away from all of the fantastic recreation offers of the other Epcot Resorts.

All of the other Epcot Deluxe Resorts are located behind Epcot. The Yacht Club, The Boardwalk and Villas, and The Beach Club Villas are the resorts with  the most entertainment at you fingertips! They offer Health and Fitness Clubs, Outdoor Recreation, Mini Golf, Boat Rentals, Fishing, Tennis, Volleyball, and Jogging Trails. Additionally, they have Disney's Boardwalk right there on property! Also, they are within a short walking distance to the back of Epcot! Don't want to walk? No problem, Bus service and Boat service are both available! See your MDE app for details. Once you arrive at Epcot, you'll find the Skyliner that can whisk you away to Hollywood Studios!

Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House and Kidani Village

This unique lodge and villas  offers one of a kind recreation. In addition to the Spa and Fitness Center, they have offer 4 Savannah's complete with animal viewing areas throughout the resort! You can even select an animal viewing room to stay in! Animal Kingdom offers bus service to all Disney Parks and Disney Springs.

Signature Restaurants

Each of these unique resorts offer wonderful opportunities, recreation and amenities. They are all also different from the others! One additional perk at a Disney Deluxe is the dining! They offer Signature dining locations that cannot be found anywhere else! In the coming weeks, I will tell you about some of these amazing restaurants that can only be found at the Deluxe Resorts!

Still don't know where to stay?

It is my recommendation to find the resort you want to stay at, look through the photos of each hotel on Disney's Website. Then read back through this blog. Each offers a truly magical vacation!

What is Pixie Dust?

First Time Magic   When I was Young…and so was Disney World  My first visit to Disney World was in 1971. I was not excited to be going to Disney. Why? I did not know that Disney existed, much less that I was going there. 1971 was the year that Walt Disney World opened in Florida and I was 5 years old! Whether my Dad kept it a secret so that it would be the ultimate surprise is unclear to me. What I am sure of is that he took us to the most magical place on earth. Operations were very different than they are now, but the one thing that remains the same is that it is still the most magical place on earth.  What is Pixie Dust and how can I Make it Happen on my Trip? Pixie Dust is a magical, unexpected thing that can happen while you are at Disney, but you cannot make it happen. I have heard people recently complain that the magic is gone since the pandemic started. It’s not true. I am sad for these people because they are missing the point. There are two types of Pixie Dust: Unexpe

Signature Dining at The Walt Disney World Resort

One of my favorite things I have a confession. While it is true that I love all things Disney , the attractions, the parades, the fireworks, the characters, the thing I love most at Disney is the dining! Whether I am on a Disney Cruise or visiting the Theme Parks, the dining is my favorite thing! You may not be aware of this, but Disney offers several different types of dining experiences: Table Service, Quick Service, Character Dining , and the coveted Signature Dining!  Why is it called Signature Dining? Disney's Signature Dining locations are named as such because they are each a one of a kind, dining experience. Walt Disney talked about taking an experience and "plus-ing" it. In other words, taking something great and then taking it up another notch. That is exactly what the Signature Dining experience is! What do I need to know? Each of these unique locations is available by reservation and they tend to fill up very quickly! Reservations can be made 60 days bef

Disney Value Resorts: Which one is Best?

Why are they called Value Resorts?  Pop Century The Disney Value Resorts are called that because they are the least expensive resorts that Disney has to offer. In other words, staying at one of these will stretch that Disney Budget farther. Currently, there are 5 Values: Pop Century , The Art of Animation , All Star Music , All Star Movie s, and All Star Sports .   What amenities and entertainment can I expect at a Value Resort? All of these resorts will have a counter service restaurant, a pool bar, a gift shop, a themed pool near the main building, guest laundry, Movies Under the Stars, and special resort activities at the main pool. In the rooms, you can expect beds for 4 people (2 to a bed) or if you book a suite it will sleep up to 6 people. In the standard rooms and suites you will have a coffee pot with coffee service provided and a cooler/fridge perfect for keeping drinks cold, but not much else. The suites also have a microwave as well as a small supply of plastic forks a

Some of My Favorite Things: Hollywood Studios Edition

Hollywood Studios: What can I expect? Hollywood Studios, like Epcot , is not like the MagicKingdom . It is not like Epcot either. So what is it? Originally, Hollywood Studios was a small theme park named MGM Studios. The theming of the park was a day on a Backlot in Hollywood. Everything that was originally there had to do with the making of movies. Though it was my favorite park, it had a problem. It earned the reputation of a half-day park. Through the years, it has changed significantly. Today’s version of Hollywood Studios is definitely a full day park. It still has a movie theme, but the newer attractions are more of immersion into those movies than experiencing a day on a Backlot in Hollywood. Is it still my favorite? Absolutely! Maximizing Your  Let’s get right down to it! You could spend your whole day and only experience a few things if you’re not careful. Why Should I Stay at a Disney Resort?

It is true that you might find one that is cheaper, though I would double check that that is true because you can sometimes get some super good deals at Disney.  Probably one of the biggest reasons to pick a WDW Resort is the discounts.
