Why are they called Value Resorts?
Pop Century |
The Disney Value Resorts are called that because they are the least expensive resorts that Disney has to offer. In other words, staying at one of these will stretch that Disney Budget farther. Currently, there are 5 Values: Pop Century, The Art of Animation, All Star Music, All Star Movies, and All Star Sports.
What amenities and entertainment can I expect at a Value Resort?
All of these resorts will have a counter service restaurant, a pool bar, a gift shop, a themed pool near the main building, guest laundry, Movies Under the Stars, and special resort activities at the main pool. In the rooms, you can expect beds for 4 people (2 to a bed) or if you book a suite it will sleep up to 6 people. In the standard rooms and suites you will have a coffee pot with coffee service provided and a cooler/fridge perfect for keeping drinks cold, but not much else. The suites also have a microwave as well as a small supply of plastic forks and paper plates. All of these resorts offer complimentary bus service as well as free parking at the resort, and the theme parks. Each of these resorts have Disney Theming unique to that resort.
Which resorts have suites?
Great question! Only The Art of Animation and All Star Music offer suites. If you have a party of 5 or more, check this out. The suites offer two connected rooms, two bathrooms, a small kitchenette with the amenities described above, and beds that can be shared for up to 6 people (2 of them are wall beds in the living room area. They are not futons or couch beds. They are actually quite comfortable.)Pixie Dust Tip: All Star Music has the least expensive suites on Disney property. If you need a suite and you are pinching those Disney pennies, this might be your best choice.
Pixie Dust Tip: If you only have 4 or 5 people, but are considering a suite, you might want to look at the Moderate Resorts. While they are not suites, you will find them to be nicer, quieter resorts that offer some special amenities. Next week I will post about these! Why do you want to consider them? They are cheaper than The Art of Animation Suites! If you have 5 people, click here.
Which resorts offer the skyliner to take us to Epcot and Hollywood Studios?
The only 2 Value Resorts that offer any transportation other the the bus are Pop Century and The Art of Animation. Pixie Dust Tip: Keep an eye on the weather! When the weather is good, the skyliner is the only transportation to Epcot and Hollywood. When it is raining, the skyliner closes temporarily and they offer bus service. The most important place to keep this in mind is Epcot. It is quite a hike to the other side of the park if you are waiting at the wrong transportation due to changing weather! Hollywood Studios and the resorts do not have as long of a walk between these 2 forms of transportation.
So, which one is best?
That depends! If you want the absolute cheapest, go with All Star Sports. If you want a suite, see above. If you want the skyliner, you know what to pick! Beyond that, my best advice is look at the theming of each resort and pick your favorite! All of these resorts offer Disney fun and immersion. At the end of the day, you will likely be spending most of your time at the parks, water parks, and Disney Springs!
