Allergens everywhere!
If you live with food allergies you already know how important it is to avoid the offending item. Whether the allergen gives you a rash or makes it difficult to breathe or any other symptom, you definitely don’t need to be exposed to it unknowingly. Disney has gone to great lengths to help you make sure that your food allergy doesn’t ruin your next vacation!
Making Dining Reservations
If you make a dining reservation online, you will be glad to know that you can peruse the menu right there before you place the reservation! While some items might be subject to change, checking the menu is a great tool to help you know if you will have some great choices to choose from!
Ready to make that reservation? Great! While you are completing the reservation on the My Disney Experience app, look below you payment method for a box that will allow you to let the restaurant know what your allergy is so that they will be prepared for you on the day of your arrival!
Using your My Disney Experience app, you will check in for your reservation approximately 15-20 minutes before the reservation time! While doing so, Disney will ask you again about food allergies for anyone in your party. You should notify them again, even if you told them when you made the reservation. When you arrive at the table, your server should confirm the allergen once again. Occasionally, they may have the chef come to your table to discuss the allergen and food offerings depending on the nature of the situation. Finally, your food should arrive with a food pick that denotes it doesn’t container your allergen.
Gluten free burgers and pasta!
Yes! Many Disney Restaurants have burger buns and pasta available that are gluten free! If you’re gluten free and love these foods, that probably made you smile! I have even seen gluten free bread at one location, Mama Melrose in Hollywood Studios! Hopefully, they’ll keep that up!
Quick Service food
Some, but not all, Quick Service locations allow you to order ahead on the My Disney Experience app. Just look for Mobile Order, then look for a restaurant near your location. Once you’ve selected when you want to get your food, you will see an icon that says “allergy friendly .“ Click on that and then click on the allergen you are avoiding. On the next screen it will show you your food choices. Simply click on what you want and place the rest of your order! When you pick up your food, it should be labeled that it does not contain your allergen. If not, check with the Cast Member who is serving the food, to ensure it was prepared correctly.
Desert anyone?
Wishing for baked goods? The Disney Restaurants often offer allergy friendly deserts, but if you were really hoping for a baked good, head to Disney Springs for Erin McKenna’s NY Bakery! This special place has you covered in baked goods! The only problem you’ll have here is not buying everything in the store! After all, it’s not a Disney Vacation without some decedent food!
