But, you could’ve chosen another resort…
My son hesitated and asked me again, “You want to stay at Pop?” “Yes,” I said. “ I want to save some money and I want access to the Skyliner!” And so we booked it! Did I have moments of wishing I booked a Moderate or Deluxe? Before we got there I absolutely did have a few fleeting thoughts. But after we arrived, no way!
Why not a cheaper Value Resort?
To be sure, the All Star Resorts, Movies, Music, and Sports, are all cheaper than Pop Century! Cheaper enough to make you think about it in fact! I have been known to select them on multiple occasions, especially when our budget is tight! But, the only transportation at these resorts other than driving yourself or paying for an Uber is a Disney bus. I’ve ridden the bus many times and I no doubt will again, especially since the Skyliner doesn’t go to Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom, but the Skyliner is a lovely change. Why? It’s faster, you don’t have to stand up, and there’s at least a chance you won’t be crammed in with other parties.
Ok, but what about the resort?
While it is true that Pop is lacking in some of the amenities of a Moderate or Deluxe Disney Resort, it has its own charm! The larger than life, iconic theming has the nostalgia I crave when I go to WDW. It’s just fun and whimsical! And just like all WDW Resorts, there is a Quick Service Restaurant, a gift shop, multiple pools, in-room coffee, a playground, and guest laundry. The rooms are adequately stocked with shampoo, soap, tissues, a hair dryer, an iron and ironing board, a safe, and a mini-fridge. The beds are comfortable and you can request connecting rooms if you’re traveling with another party.
Will I book Pop every trip?
No, I won’t book it every time. Sometimes I want a quieter, less busy resort where I can sit outside and enjoy a coffee by the lake. But, I will book it again! I love it there!
