Is it a zoo?
Animal Kingdom is definitely not a zoo. It is a theme park…with animals. To get the full experience, you will need to visit as many attractions as you can, watch the amazing Broadway caliber shows, and yes, visit the animals!
Attractions: Maximizing your time
To do and see everything, you might want to use Genie+ or some Individual Lightning Lanes. Just like Hollywood Studios, The MagicKingdom, and Epcot, a few attractions might have some substantially lengthy
lines. What are they? 1) Avatar: Flight
of Passage (Pandora): This ride on the back of a banshee is awesome, but
the line is sometimes wrapped around Pandora! 2) Everest (Asia): The infamous roller coaster that runs out of track
and requires you to go backwards! Definitely a fan favorite! 3) The Safari Ride (Africa): This ride
through the Savannah sometimes gets very backed up because the local residents,
aka the animals, sometimes block the ride! If you are on the ride when it
happens, it makes for a great ride and picture taking opportunity!
Shows!
There are two amazing shows you do not want to miss: The Lion King and Finding Nemo. Both shows are Broadway caliber! Both shows will leave
you singing the songs for the rest of the day! Both shows have long lines!
Should you use Genie+ or Lightning Lane? Maybe. The last shows of the day are
between 4-5:00pm daily, so definitely check you My Disney Experience app the morning of your visit so that you can
make your plan to include them!
Let’s Eat!
In terms of snacks, there is so much to choose from! Some of
the only at Animal Kingdom food includes Trilo-bites which are buffalo chicken
chips. Got a sweet tooth? Head over to the Eight Spoon Café for a pulled pork
jelly donut sandwich! Getting pretty hungry or want to get something to share?
Head over to the Flame Tree Barbecue for some baked mac n cheese with pulled
pork! So delicious!
Shop Until You Drop!
Some of my favorite shops on Disney property are at Animal
Kingdom. Not only can you find Disney items with an animal flair, but you can
also find items from Africa and Asia that you will not find anywhere else at
Disney! You should definitely save some time to shop!
More?
Yes! There is more to do! Take the train to Conservation Station. There you can take
a Disney Drawing class, meet some animals, and watch the veterinarians who take
care of the animals. Currently, there are no fireworks at Animal Kingdom. There
are, however, the one of a kind Flotillas that are like the cavalcades, but on
the water! Keep your eyes on the water so you do not miss them! In the evening,
The Tree of Life is the place to be, because the show is on the tree! It is so beautiful;
I know you will want to see it! Get your camera ready!
