Help! I Only Have One Day!
What is a vacationer to do? If you've been to Walt Disney World, you probably have an idea of what your game plan should be. But, what if you've never been to WDW? Let me break it down for you!
The Magic Kingdom
The Magic Kingdom has the nostalgia of Disney. It has the attractions that Walt Disney designed alongside his first group of Imagineers. You could say that it has the essence of Disney! In addition, it has the fireworks, castle shows, cavalcades, parade, and character meet and greets that you very often see in the advertising due to their nostalgic nature. If you're looking for a straight up Disney Day, this might be your best option! Also, it should be noted that though young children enjoy all of the parks, Magic Kingdom is often their favorite.
Epcot
Epcot has some great attractions as well, but these attractions do not carry the same nostalgia for many people that the Magic Kingdom attractions do. Why then might you choose Epcot for your day at Disney? Well, for one thing it is home to Cosmic Rewind, the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster. This is the latest, most sought after attraction on Disney property! What else? The World Showcase is the home of the Disney Festivals. The Festivals have special food, drinks, merch and cultural experiences that you cannot find anywhere else! You can literally eat and drink your way around Epcot! Sound good? Head to Epcot!
Hollywood Studios
Hollywood Studios was first MGM Studios. It began as a backlot experience. Today, it has changed quite a bit! It still has a backlot feel in some areas of the park. Sunset Boulevard, The Brown Derby restaurant, The ABC Commissary, and The Chinese Theatre all have a backlot vibe! In addition, Hollywood Studios has thrill rides! From Rockin' Rollercoaster to The Tower of Terror to The Rise of the Resistance, your thrill-side will enjoy the ride! Want a little character nostalgia too? They have you covered with Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway, The Muppet's 3D movie, and Toy Story Land. But probably the biggest reason most people visit Hollywood Studios is Galaxy's Edge! Love Star Wars? This is the place! No other WDW park can transport you to Batuu! Here, you soak up the atmosphere, food, drinks, and merch of this unique planet as well as mingle with the local native inhabitants. Love movies? This is it!
Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom is home to a ton of animals! You can experience them in ways similar to a zoo and ways that are not the average zoo experience. Animal Kingdom is the home of Kilimanjaro Safari ride which allows you to get up close with my favorite, the giraffes, as well as all of the other animals. While you're there don't forget to walk the trails to view even more animals. Next, ride the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch where you can observe veterinarians care for the animal inhabitants and also try your hand at drawing some real characters! Before you ask, yes there are attractions! Two of the most popular are Everest, a coaster in Asia that goes backwards, and Flight of Passage located in Pandora where you can fly on a Banshee with the Na'vi. Both of these attractions are very popular!
What else? There are two Broadway caliber shows at Animal Kingdom: The Lion King and Finding Nemo. These adaptations of the original story will amaze you and have you singing the rest of the day! Sound good? Animal Kingdom is your place!
Plan B: Park Hopping
Park Hopping is a great way to maximize a day at Disney! For an extra fee, you can hop to an additional park (or 2 or even 3!) after 2pm(time is subject to change). Currently, it is cheaper than paying for two separate days. Of course, the more you hop the less you can experience at each park. If it is your first trip to WDW, I recommend not hopping or hopping one time only in a day if you only have one day to spend. Also, consider utilizing Genie+, Lightning Lanes, and the Virtual Que, as available to max-out your day!
